In a heartwarming ceremony held at the Alvan Ikoku Federal University College of Education, Owerri, Hon. Engr. Akarachi Etinosa Amadi, Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, accompanied the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Her Excellency Lady Chinyere Iheoma Ekomaru, to a homecoming event hosted in her honor by the Alvan Mbaitoli Welfare Association.

Lady Ekomaru, a distinguished alumna and former staff of the institution, was honored for her outstanding service to the state and enduring contributions to education. She was warmly welcomed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aloysius C. Onyeka, and the university community, who lauded her return as both symbolic and inspiring.

Hon. Akarachi Amadi, in his remarks, praised the Deputy Governor for her legacy of leadership, compassion, and deep ties to the educational sector. In recognition of her service, he proudly unveiled and presented a special award on behalf of the Mbaitoli Welfare Association.

In his continued commitment to education and youth development, Hon. Amadi announced 20 new scholarships — 10 for students of Alvan Ikoku University and 10 for top-performing students from Mbaitoli LGA. He also made a generous donation of ₦1 million to support the event organizers, earning him applause from attendees and admiration for his consistent efforts in uplifting education.

In a touching moment, the institution adopted Hon. Amadi as an honorary member of the Alvan Ikoku community, marking a new chapter of collaboration between the university and the Federal Constituency he represents.

Deputy Governor Lady Ekomaru expressed her deep gratitude for the honor and noted the personal and familial connections she shares with the university. She commended the Alvan Mbaitoli Welfare Association for organizing the event and praised Hon. Amadi for his presence and support, describing it as a testament to strong leadership and shared community values.
